Botox can last anywhere from 2-6 months. Where you fall on that scale not only depends on the size and depth of your wrinkles but also your metabolism and your body chemistry. Neurotransmitters are generated by your body all the time, which eventually stops the inhibition of the muscles. However, the more often you have Botox injections, the longer the effect will last between sessions. This is because your muscles become conditioned and your skin becomes more effective at regenerating collagen.

Many of our patients get preventative Botox in their 20s to stop faint lines from turning into deep wrinkles later in life. When administered correctly and in small amounts, preventative Botox can reduce the amount of Botox you may need later in life.

Some patients will notice their Botox wearing off quicker than others for various reasons. It could be that you have more animated facial expressions, or you are an athlete with a fast metabolism or perhaps you have larger muscles that require more units. If you notice your Botox is not lasting as long as expected, please mention this in your next appointment so we can identify what is causing this.

We charge per area for Botox as there isn’t a one size fits all rule. How many units you need depends on the size and strength of your muscles. Larger muscles require more units.
